Innovative, the Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 External SSD is the first external SSD from Kingston that is operating system independent and features hardware encryption, with a touchscreen for data protection. The VP80ES protects data against brute force attacks and BadUSB through digitally signed firmware. By default, the brute force attack protection performs an encrypted wipe of the USB key if the Admin and User passwords are entered incorrectly 15 times* in a row. It is FIPS 197 certified for its XTS-AES 256-bit encryption based on a Common Criteria EAL5+ (CC EAL5+) certified secure microprocessor, and is TAA compliant.

As intuitive as unlocking a smartphone and simply transferring files via drag-and-drop, the VP80ES is designed to protect data while being easy to use. Featuring an intuitive color touchscreen and allowing multiple passwords (Admin and User) to be set in the form of numeric PIN codes or passphrases, the Vault Privacy 80ES offers a higher level of data protection than the Internet and Cloud services.

Whether it’s important business information, client documents, or high-resolution images and videos, the SSD is ideal for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to content creators. It comes with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 adapter cables, USB Type-C®** to Type-A and Type-C to Type-C, for easy connection to computers and other devices. The VP80ES is the perfect companion when you need secure data and content on the go or in the field to enable portable productivity and convenience at your fingertips. It is ideal for regular backups and for protecting against ransomware.

The administrator can enable a user password and configure security options, such as setting password requirements by defining the maximum number of shared attempts, the minimum password length of 6 to 64 characters, and alphanumeric password rules. Additionally, you can use the ‘space’ character, making it easier to remember a passphrase in the form of a list of words, a memorable quote, or the lyrics of a favorite song. Otherwise, you can use the PIN keyboard to unlock it as you would with a mobile device. To reduce login failures and frustration, you can press the “eye” button to see the password as it was entered.

As an additional feature, when a user password is forgotten, the administrator password can be used to access the data and restore user access.
